The website gives you the opportunity to find out something of the weapons that were used in the First World War, and to make a very brief comparison with modern day armaments. Although there was massive carnage in the First World War, it is curious to reflect that in those days there were no radios, - so tank commanders had to rely on carrier pigeons or semaphore to send messages back to base! Or that submarines initially had to rely on a fixed periscope, which could only see forwards!
The following pages provide example sof SOME of the arms and armaments used at the time, with a modern day comarative example. Select an image to be taken to the relevant page;-

The uniforms and equipment used by the British and German armies are described, and there is also a "slide show" of First World War items that are in the Museum, - which can be seen by all visitors.
