For the Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howards), 65,000 men served in the First World War. Of these men, 7,500 died and 23,000 were wounded. The 7,500 men of the Yorkshire Regiment who died in the First World War are recorded in War Memorials to be found in almost every city, town and village in Yorkshire.

We have recorded the information on just SOME of these War Memorials. We would like to collect information on as many as possible, though. If YOU have photographs of local War Memorials which contain the name of men of the Yorkshire Regiment / Green Howards, please let us know. We will be glad to publish your images and will give full credit to you against any images supplied.

To find out about the War Memorials that we have information on, select any one of the images below to be taken to a web page which indexes our record of some of the War Memorials in North Yorkshire. Do you recognise one from where YOU live? Or do you recognise any of the NAMES on these Memorials?
