An exhibit from the Boer War. The saddle of General Cronje (commander of the Boer forces) captured at the Battle of Paardeberg on 27 February 1900, - the first major British victory of the war.

A "tableau vivant" illustrating officers' mess dress of various periods against a mess room background. In the Museum, this tableau comes to life as visitors approach it, and the figures speak of their experiences!
